Operations Coordinator

Job Description
We are seeking a detail orientated and adaptable Operations Coordinator to handle key functions across Human Resources, Purchasing, and Shipping/Receiving. This is a front office position requiring excellent verbal and social skills that will generate a positive first impression for our customers.
The position plays a vital part in keeping the business running smoothly by supporting the management and engineering teams, and ensuring our products move efficiently through the process. This is a diverse role with an opportunity to learn in a flexible and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Human Resources administration supports employee onboarding, record keeping, and timekeeping. Maintain HR files and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Coordinate employee healthcare and 401K benefits, and assist with employee communication.
- Purchasing administration supports employee requests with online product purchasing.
Communicates with suppliers and staff to track and ensure proper delivery dates and assist with return merchandise. Monitor office supply inventory and reorder as needed.
- Shipping administration requires assisting the engineering staff in preparing outgoing items for transit. This includes online generation of shipping documents for both domestic and international transportation per customer requirements. Receiving tasks include signing for shipments, verifying contents and distributing appropriately.
- Other tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in office administration (a degree in a related field counts toward this experience)
Basic knowledge of human resources processes and documents
Basic knowledge of a purchasing cycle
Must occasionally lift and move packages up to 40 pounds
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, successful applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to pass a background investigation
Preferred Skills
Strong organization and time management
Comfortable multitasking and self-directed prioritization
Proficient with Microsoft Office / Data Entry

Optical Engineer
Full Time – Onsite, Tucson AZ

Our innovative products are deployed to serve the needs of government, commercial, and academic clients. Spurred by recent growth and anticipated larger market share, we are looking to expand our technical team.
This is hands-on position building, aligning and testing state-of-the-art optical instruments. As an Optical Engineer, you will participate in the full development cycle of innovative programs creating advanced optical systems, starting from concept and requirements, to build, alignment and test, and finally commissioning operational products at the customer site including support/upgrade of systems in the field. Working with our outstanding team of optical, mechanical, and software engineers and technicians, as well as our senior scientific staff, you will provide the engineering support that delivers success to our customers.

Essential Job Functions
- Build out of optical systems and other related optical instrumentation to requirements and specifications
- Document optical alignment and test at component, sub-system, and system level to ensure requirements are met
- Experience with adaptive optics systems and design and optical breadboard assembly and alignment highly desirable
- Under supervision of senior staff, analyize optical systems, including effects of WFE, stray light, and tolerance sensitivity using Zemax or other professional tools, and compare results to system requirements
- Contribute to maturation of existing products and manufacturing processes through collaborative development of documentation, procedure, and support infrastructure
- Write and contribute to reports, including: design documentation, operational specifications, project briefings for internal and customer consumption
- Conduct optical component searches, to include interaction with vendors to identify suitable parts
- Deal directly with customers by preparing and participating in briefings, presentations and meetings
Requirements
- BS optical engineering or optical sciences, MS preferred
- 2-5 years of documented experience with lab assembly and alignment of complex optical systems
- Solid understanding of optical theory and principles of application
- Demonstrated experience in optical system design and layout with Zemax
- Ability to travel in support of system deployment or customer engagement – ~10% time
- US Citizenship
- Ability to pass a mandatory background check
Desired Skills/Background
- Laser communications system experience highly desirable
- Experience with lasers in benchtop or in-the-field applications highly desirable
- Experience with autocollimators, alignment telescopes, interferometers preferred
- Active US security clearance

Engineering Technician/Opto-Mechanical

As an Engineering Technician, you will participate in the assembly, build-out and deployment of innovative new advanced optical systems, starting from concept and assembly to commissioning an operational product at the customer site. This position includes not only opto-mechanics assembly but also some electronics assembly. Working with our outstanding team of optical, mechanical, and software engineers, as well as our senior scientific staff, you will provide the hands-on assembly support that delivers success to our customers.

Requirements and Essential Job Functions
- ASc or Certificate in opto-mechanics preferred but not required
- 5 years documented experience assembling and aligning moderately complex optical systems and components is highly preferred
- Keen interest in optics and opto-mechanics and ability to work independently and in team environments
- Able to read and understand blue prints, schematics and layouts
- Effectively communicate technical issues to engineering team
- Able to follow written and verbal procedures, and provide feedback and changes/corrections to improve the process
- Assist in the design process of production tooling and fixturing
- Maintain records of work completed
- Track and control materials assigned to multiple projects
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Able to support travel for multiple instrument deployments per year as required
- Ability to lift 40lbs in tight or difficult-to-access spaces during instrument deployments at remote facilities
